In the playlist below are some of my real time recordings from 2010 to 2017, made on the fly direct from a Yamaha LS9 sound console to MP3 format. These featured public performances at Outdoor76 in Franklin NC, Jack of the Wood music pub in Asheville, The Flat Rock Playhouse Hendersonville, and the Old Farmers Ball, Swannanoa NC. The last three songs are live multi-track recordings from HarrisFest in South Carolina, The Artistry-Greenville, and Asheville’s Grey Eagle Tavern with Jon Stickley. I am also proud to be a sound part of the local contra dance communities for nearly 30 years. The Old Farmers’ Ball Contra dances are a Thursday night favorite.Â
Since 2017 I have recorded multi-tracks in WAV format, and produced MP4 audio. This file type having a smaller file size yet with movie quality audio. Then Apple changed something and I was no longer able to simply email a link and have it start up in iOS. Â
So for compatibility these tracks are in Mp3 format, however on iOS devices the music restarts after a couple of minutes, but at least you get a sample of these awesome performers. Seems to work on everything else though…

The Old Farmer's Ball Contra Dances
With an Appalachian tradition starting in the 1930’s as the “Farmer’s Ball,” Contra dancing resurfaced in 1982 as the “Old Farmer’s Ball.” However when the original Building caved in during the blizzard of 1993, dancers have since gathered Thursday nights at Bryson Gym on the campus of Warren Wilson College for live music and dance. Jack Of The Wood
Jack of the Wood Asheville, NC: “Where the Smoky Mountains meet the British Isles,” home to many talented musicians performing in an authentic Celtic pub setting. I recorded these tunes with an analog Mackie 1604-VLC Pro console to a transcend stereo wav recorder.
